3X THE CHARM

“Groundhog Day Bank Robber” Charles Burnett earned his nicknamed after holding up the same bank three days in a row.

Burnett showed up at the Sovereign branch in downtown NYC Monday morning and left with $2,258. The following day, Burnett arrived at 10:54 AM and collected an additional $14,000.

On the third day, after a CCTV camera still of his face was posted in police stations, Burnett was caught — by chance — after two police officers spotted him leaving the bank with $10k.

“Same guy, three days in a row,” teller Danielle Stephens told the post. “Obviously he wanted to get caught. He didn’t seem like he was all there.”

The Teaneck, New Jersey resident was charged with three counts of robbery.
He is currently awaiting arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.
